The Port Washington-Saukville School District's philosophy is to meet the needs of each individual student. Students who are capable of, or show potential for, high performance in intellectual, creative, specific academic, artistic, or leadership areas may be identified for gifted and talented programming. Gifted identification is done to alert parents and teachers of potential so that appropriate expectations are placed on the child and programming will be offered to meet the student's needs. Sources used for identification may include parent nominations, teacher nominations, test data, and student product.
The Port Washington-Saukville School District has adopted the Comprehensive Integrated Gifted Programming Model suggested by the Wisconsin Department of Instruction:
All of our schools offer a wide variety of options to help students develop their academic, intellectual, creative, artistic, and leadership abilities, through their regular school program and the TAG (Talented and Gifted) Program.
