Positive Attitude Makes all the Difference
Welcome to our website, the Port Washington-Saukville School District, and this very special place. Please spend some time reviewing our website, because it contains some wonderful information about our students and programs. Also, please "like" us on Facebook, where we post pictures of recent events.
This school year, students from 5th grade through 12th grade are using personal learning devices to expand their knowledge and encourage independent thinking. Every 5th through 7th grade student received an iPad, and all 8th through 12th grade students received Chromebooks. The staff and students are using these personal learning devices within the classroom and at home so that learning can take place anywhere at any time. Also, each elementary building has two mobile sets of iPads, and each classroom has four iPads. In addition to these devices, our computer labs are very busy throughout the day and after school.
We continue to hold high expectations for our students and staff members as we again score above the state average in all standardized tests including the ACT. Also, all our school buildings exceeded expectations on the state-wide report card. We offer 14 Advanced Placement (AP) courses at the high school for college credit. We have 57 AP scholars, and one student who had the highest score possible on five Advanced Placement tests resulting in national scholar recognition.
As you know, we have a very special place here because of the quality of our staff members and their caring attitude and dedication to our students and parents. When you walk into any of our five buildings, you can feel the positive energy, camaraderie, excitement, and pride. Our nine member School Board has been responsible for providing positive, student focused leadership for successful student learning.
Our school district has produced two 4-minute videos reflecting this very special place. They are entitled "Helping Children Build Optimism in their Lives" and "Positive Attitude Makes all the Difference". Please click on the links just above this Superintendent's message.
We have developed wonderful partnerships with the two police departments in Port Washington and Saukville, the fire departments, the city and village, the two chambers, the Historical Society, and many other community groups. These partnerships support learning and our special place.
Technology education and career readiness continue to be one of our major focus areas. Consequently, we have a large S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) community-wide partnership with over 25 industrial, manufacturing, and business partners. Many of our students are job-shadowing, doing internships, taking tours, and learning from real-life experiences.
This has been a brief summary of the many opportunities for our students. Please browse our website to learn more, and you will quickly become aware of why this is such a very special place for our students to learn, grow, and develop.
