Dear Families & Friends,
Welcome to Lincoln Elementary School! We are thrilled that your family is a part of our family at LES. We have had a busy summer working to prepare for a terrific school year for all the children who attend Lincoln. Part of our work over the summer included hiring five new teachers. Each of these individuals will bring a variety of skills and talents to our staff. Please help me in welcoming Meghan Fay (Early Childhood), Kellie Barkdoll (Kindergarten), Cynthia Hampton (3rd Grade), Christie Shelvik (4th Grade), and Hallie Lindner (Special Education/Character Education) to the Port Washington Saukville School District and Lincoln School. They have already proven to be wonderful additions to our Lincoln Lion staff.
In addition, this summer the office at Lincoln was remodeled and a beautiful new entrance was added. Guests and visitors can enter the school through the waiting area on the east side of the building where they can sign in to conduct school business, have lunch with their child, or drop off items whenever necessary. We really love how much it has opened our office space up and provided a welcoming place for our families to visit when waiting for their child(ren).
Next, I am pleased to announce that Lincoln's theme this year is, "Lincoln Lions are on a Quest for Excellence."
I am sure you will notice all the related decorations to the theme around the school when you come to visit. Along with our theme, students will continue to learn about the Six Pillars of Character from our Character Counts Curriculum. These pillars are: respect, responsibility, trustworthiness, caring, citizenship, and fairness. To support these character traits, our PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support) Committee has created very specific rules and expectations for behavior in and around our school. We review these with all the students and staff twice a year during our PBIS Boot Camp. During Boot Camp, each grade level rotates to different areas throughout the school to learn about the expectations for that area. These areas are: playground, bus, hallway, lunchroom, bathrooms, and the classroom. We also utilize a Voice Level Chart to help students gauge how loud areas around the school should be. Our wonderful students and staff have adopted these practices to create a very calm, cool, and collected school where all our students can learn and grow. I am so very proud of them all!
Finally, we have an exceptional parent group at Lincoln called PALS (Parents at Lincoln School). Their regular monthly meetings are on the second Thursday of each month beginning at 6:30 P.M. in the library at Lincoln. They would love to have you join them. This group does so many wonderful things for our families and our school. I hope everyone has a chance to attend a meeting and some of the fun events this year.
On behalf of our staff, I hope you have a fantastic year at LES! Please do not hesitate to contact us at 262-268-5800 or stop in to see us if you have any questions.
Respectfully and peacefully yours,
Jane Gennerman, Principal
Lincoln Elementary School
