Welcome Message

Dear Lincoln Families,

Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year!  We are so happy that your family is either joining us or continuing with us this school year.  Our teaching teams have been working hard planning throughout the summer to provide great opportunities for your children to learn and grow.

This school year is also going to introduce new learning standards for your children.  The state of Wisconsin (along with 47 other states) adopted the Common Core Standards in the areas of math and reading.  These incredibly detailed standards must be fully implemented by the year 2014, so our staff members were diligent in their work over the summer getting started in their planning.  We also adopted a new math curriculum called Stepping Stones (Origo Math) that fully integrates the new math standards.  We will share more information with you at the beginning of the year and as the year progresses.  These are exciting changes for us all!

Lincoln's theme this year is, "Lincoln Lions Put Their Best Foot Forward."  I am sure you will notice all the cut-out shoes and shoe themes outside each room as you visit school this year.  Along with our theme, students will continue to learn about the 6 pillars of character from our Character Counts curriculum.  These pillars are:  respect, responsibility, trustworthiness, caring, citizenship, and fairness.  To support these character traits throughout our school, our PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support) Committee has created very specific rules for behavior.  Without a doubt, your children will be well cared for and a part of something special at Lincoln Elementary School this year.

We are pleased to introduce some new staff to our Lincoln family this year.  Teaching third grade is Miss Kristin Brandt.  Miss Brandt is originally from New Holstein, Wisconsin, and is very excited to begin her teaching career as a Lincoln Lion.  Mrs. Connie Cross is joining us as a part-time math and reading paraprofessional this year as well.  In addition to these two new staff members, we are excited to welcome Miss Kristin Nett back to Lincoln as a second grade teacher.

Finally, we have an exceptional parent group (called PALS) at Lincoln Elementary School.  They would love to have you join them.  Their regular meetings will be the second Thursday of the month starting on October 11th, 2012.  These meetings begin at 6:30 P.M. in the library at Lincoln.

We hope you and your family have a wonderful year at Lincoln, and please do not hesitate to call us at 262-268-5800 or stop in to see us if you have any questions.

Respectfully and peacefully yours,

Jane Gennerman, Principal
Lincoln Elementary School
