Greetings and Welcome to Second Semester at PWHS!
The Port Pride Program finished the first semester with 330 students completing the pledge of Port Pride. That pledge included being alcohol and drug free, passing all classes, having no office referrals, participating in at least one school activity, and doing at least 10 hours of community service. This group completed more than 4,300 hours of community service! We are looking forward to seeing the program grow next semester!
The Port Washington-Saukville School District and Port Washington High School has a rich tradition of academic excellence. PWHS offers a comprehensive program for all our students needs and interests and their future college and/or career goals. Port Washington High School scored in the "exceeding expectations" category in the latest school report card . The school score of 81.9 puts Port Washington High School in the top 10% of all high schools in the state. At the high school level this is a measurement of several factors including state testing scores in math and reading, graduation rate, and ability to close learning gaps with special populations.
Port Washington High School has also performed very well on the ACT test with a composite score between 23.0 and 23.8 over the last six years. In 2014 our overall composite was 23.6. This score was the second highest composite score ever for our high school while having one of the highest percentage of the senior class take the assessment at 73.5%.
For this school year, the state of Wisconsin has changing the testing requirements for all grade levels. At the high school level we will continue to use the WKCE to test in the areas of Social Studies and Science in the fall for 10th grade students. The 9th grade students have already taken the ACT Aspire test in October and will take it again this spring. Our 10th grade students will also take the Aspire test in spring. Finally, all of our 11th grade students will take the ACT and ACT WorkKeys test in March. This will be the first time that our school will have 100% participation in the ACT testing. The test results can be used for college entran ce.
