Welcome to Thomas Jefferson Middle School in beautiful Port Washington WI!
We are a community of approximately 710 energetic and exceptional 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th grade learners. The entire Thomas Jefferson Middle School (affectionately known as "TJ") staff, in partnership with our parents and community, is committed to helping students as they achieve their academic and personal potential in a positive, supportive and collaborative learning environment. We truly are a team - and the TJ staff is completely invested in ensuring your child's success. A core principle of our programing at Thomas Jefferson is built upon the belief that the student - staff relationship is the cornerstone of the learning process. Simply put, rapport and trust have to be developed before real learning can begin.
Students are offered a wide variety of curricular options that enable them to develop new skills, interests, and knowledge to reach high levels of success. In addition, our students are engaged and involved in numerous activities, clubs, athletics and fine arts programs. This wide variety of options fits with our overarching school philosophy that student engagement leads directly to student success! In addition, our staff is committed to very specific goals in the areas of Literacy, Math and Communications.
Thank you for your interest in Thomas Jefferson Middle School. Should you be interested in learning more about our vibrant learning community, please don't hesitate to contact us!

Thomas Jefferson Middle School services all 5th - 8th grade students in the Port Washington-Saukville School District. Classes for all grades begin at 7:30 AM and students are dismissed at 2:44 PM. Our colors are blue and gold and we are known as the TJ Jaguars. Our office is open year-around, opening at 7:00 AM. During the school year, the office closes at 4:00 PM. During the summer, it closes at 3:30 PM. The building is open until 9:00 PM, so students are able to get to their lockers for forgotten items. There is also a drop-slot next to the south office door for your use in dropping off field trip permission slips, orders, payment, etc. Our phones are also equipped with 24-hour voice mail for your convenience. If your student will miss school due to illness, etc., please be sure to call the school 262-268-6101 and leave a voicemail letting us know they will not be here!
