Choosing the right backpack and wearing it correctly can go a long way toward keeping students comfortable and injury-free. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
✅ Use both strapssingle-shoulder carrying puts uneven strain on the body
✅ Keep the total load to 10-15% of your child's body weight
✅ Pack heavier items closest to the back
✅ Straps should be snug but not too tight
✅ Regularly remove items that do not need to be there

➡️ Tuesday, September 1: First day of school for 5th grade students at TJMS. It is also the first day for 9th grade students at PWHS, who will attend a full day. Students in 10th-12th grade will begin at 11:15am, with doors opening at 10:45am.

Once again, all three PWSSD Elementary Schools will be hosting Great Start Conferences and Picture Day! Everyone will be able to drop off their school supplies, meet their new teacher before the first day of school, explore their new classroom, and just feel more confident and excited for Day 1. We will also have VIP Photography in the cafeteria for school pictures.

Kindergarten through Grade 4
Great Start Conferences in grades K5-4th will provide a 20 minute, in-person meeting with you, your child(ren), and your child(ren)’s teacher.
Conferences for 4K
4K Great Start Conferences follows a different format. Up to four families will sign up for one 45-minute slot. With families able to come together at the same time, our youngest students will be able to connect with other students and their families for a shared experience that includes a classroom tour, play-based activities, and a chance to meet their teacher. This format will help build early connections and comfort with the school environment for both students and families.
To schedule your conference, our PTC Wizard will open Monday, August 17 at 7am and will remain open until midnight, Wednesday, August 26.

PICTURES WITH VIP
All students must have their pictures taken on the day of their conference. Afterwards, you’ll receive an email when your images are ready to view online. Or, you can search for them at vipis.com shortly after photos are taken. You’ll be able to select your image for your yearbook/composite (please remember to do so before it’s selected for you), and place your online order. All orders will be delivered to your home. If you need further assistance, contact VIP at email--customer.support@vipis.com, or call them at 262-375-4457.
